President/CEO, NAIOP Arizona

NAIOP is the nation’s leading trade association for commercial real estate industry professionals. The NAIOP Arizona chapter is seeking a dedicated and inspired leader to represent and support our professional membership in the areas of: 1) advocating for public policy supporting responsible development in Arizona; 2) maximizing member networking opportunities through premier networking events; and, 3) providing effective educational and career development programs. The ideal candidate will possess the ability to lead a large, diverse non-profit association with experience in advocacy/government relations.



NAIOP Arizona is the trade association representing the commercial real estate industry in Arizona. Our members enjoy the many benefits of our premier networking events, quality educational programs, and political action.

NAIOP Arizona has grown to over 750 members, making us the 6th largest of 51 national NAIOP chapters. In 2016, we were proud to have received recognition from the national NAIOP association by being named the Most Outstanding Large Chapter of the Year.

The President/CEO of NAIOP Arizona is responsible for providing leadership in developing and executing strategies to meet the association’s goals:
• Growing our effectiveness and influence in industry-related public policy
• Strengthening the membership base by providing compelling networking and educational event opportunities
• Broadening our member career development programs

A primary responsibility in this executive role is advocating for effective public policy at the local, state and federal levels in order to influence and promote the advancement of responsible commercial real estate development. This includes managing lobbyists and consultants toward these efforts.

The President/CEO will be expected to ensure that the association’s membership events and programs offer exceptional professional networking value for our members. Current signature NAIOP events include Night at the Fights, Thursday Night Live, an annual Golf Tournament, Best of NAIOP and the Signature Speaker Series. We anticipate that the President/CEO will present opportunities to improve on our already successful event schedule so that we will be able to exceed our members’ expectations.

The President/CEO will also identify strategies for building on our existing professional member educational initiatives, including our Developing Leaders mentorship program, as well as our “Lunch & Learns” and “Market Leaders” member events.

In addition, the President/CEO will assist in the development and support of philanthropic activities as directed by the Board.

The President/CEO responsibilities will include personal outreach to corporate sponsors and collaborative public ventures. The President/CEO will manage the NAIOP Arizona staff as they provide hands-on management of membership benefits, event planning, and committee support. The President/CEO will be responsible for the chapter’s financial accounting and reporting.

The President/CEO will report to the NAIOP Chairman and Board of Directors.

• Bachelor’s degree
• 10+ years of progressively responsible related experience in government relations/advocacy, real estate and land use, and/or nonprofit administration
• Familiarity with Arizona legislation/public policy
• Proven career success through strong relationship building and effective networking
• Outstanding written, verbal and interpersonal communications skills
• Ability to achieve successful results through personal initiative and intuitively nuanced people management skills
• Leadership experience in managing and developing others
• Advanced organization and time-management skills
• Applicable skills in professional meeting management, development of membership programs, and management of corporate sponsors
• Proven budget management skills
• Ability to ensure there will be no perceived personal conflicts of interest with NAIOP Arizona advocacy goals
